Elisângela Mendonça

Elisângela Mendonça is an award-winning journalist specialising in climate breakdown and human rights. She is a fellow at the Pulitzer Center Rainforest Investigations Network, a project designed to encourage collaborative investigative reporting, and a member of the Oxford Climate Journalism Network. Before joining TBIJ, the London-based Brazilian journalist worked for Dow Jones, where she investigated how private equity ownership of nursing homes in the UK could reduce the quality of care. She has produced multimedia projects for the Canadian newspaper the Globe and Mail, where she looked at everything from Amazonian deforestation to the spread of the Lava Jato corruption crisis across Latin America. Her writing has also appeared in Mongabay, the Intercept Brazil and the Thomson Reuters Foundation. She holds an MBA in economics and sustainability, an MA in international journalism from City, University of London and a BA in communications.
